Since I'm a returning student, I heard about Growth Mindset last semester. I went back and read my old blog post, and I still agree with everything that I mentioned in my old post. I love Dweck's ideas around learning and trying to grow as a person. I worked on fixing my mental attitude last semester and I think that it really helped my outlook! I wrote that I was nervous for my English Capstone class (since I didn't want to fail at it lol), but I really enjoyed that class! Even with the pandemic, I feel like a learned a lot and grew as an educator because of that class. I created an education website, and I plan to create another one in my free time this semester.
My younger sister is starting OU this semester and she's nervous just like I was. My advice to her was to worry less about getting good grades and focus more on learning new skills and improving as a person (growth mindset). When I become a teacher, I want to take what I've learned about mindset and instill the love of learning and growing to my future students.
