For this story lab, I read the Empoword chapter 2, which is about the basics of story writing. I wanted to read this section so that I could get ideas on how to teach story writing in my future ELA classroom. I really enjoyed this resource, and it gave some cool activities and suggestions. One idea would be to have students write 3 stories based on the cropped pictures! It had some zoomed in photography, and each story would have a different point, even though it's ultimately the same picture. I also liked how it gave the basic story arch, and plot sequence. That includes things like rising action, falling action, climax, etc. However, they mention that this is only one way to tell a story. It's the most common, but it's also kind of boring. You can adjust things about the plot to add interest and originality to a story. For example, you can start at the rising action, and loop back around to the exposition.
